2018 Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching

STEMscopes

Each year, more than 6,000 educators and science advocates gather for the Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching, aka CAST, one of the nation’s premier science education conferences. Presented by the Science Teachers Association of Texas, this three-day festival of all things science includes hundreds of breakout sessions presented by educators who generously share innovative classroom strategies. CAST attendees come from each of science's varied disciplines, but they are united by their passion for introducing students of all ages to the phenomenal world of science.

Join us Nov. 1–3 at the Fort Worth Convention Center to:

  • Be inspired by your choice of more than 600 workshops and extended sessions, divided by grade level and subject area so you can build your own CAST experience.
  • Learn innovative strategies for conveying scientific concepts to students from keynote speaker Dianna Cowern, creator of the one-million-subscriber YouTube channel Physics Girl and science communicator extraordinaire.
  • Connect with fellow explorers at networking social events, including Friday night’s STAT Celebration. Don’t miss this special event: We have some surprises planned related to the all-new STAT brand identity!
  • Investigate Fort Worth’s top scientific sites during CAST educational excursions.
  • Return to your classroom with up to 17 hours of continuing education credit and cutting-edge lesson plans and handouts you can take back to your classroom immediately.

New this year: Extended sessions (formerly “Short Courses”) and educational excursions are now included in your full conference registration! No extra fees! Preregistration is required for selected extended sessions and excursions.
