Cultural & Indigenous Marketplace

The Cultural & Indigenous Marketplace is a conference favorite and high-level attraction! Each year the marketplace attracts Indigenous artists and craftspeople from across the country and territories who bring their handmade items to share and sell at our conference. The items include jewelry, beadwork, quillwork, paintings, pottery, baskets, loom work, blankets, quilts, ribbon skirts, and much more! Vendors will be set up Thursday through Saturday beginning at 9:00 am each day. Be sure and make time to visit the marketplace during your time at #2023NDiSTEM!

SACNAS Inter-tribal Pow Wow

Join us for the annual SACNAS Intertribal Powwow on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Portland Convention Center.

One of the biggest cultural celebrations during the conference, the powwow brings together all our participants to celebrate through Native American singing and dancing. This year’s powwow is doubly special as we will be recognizing and highlighting SACNAS’ 50th Anniversary!  Check out our flyer here!

This year SACNAS is working with the Bow & Arrow Culture Club from the Portland area which is co-hosting the event. We are inviting all our SACNAS members, conference participants, and the Portland community to come out and join us for a fun-filled evening! This event is free and open to the public, seating will be provided. Arts and crafts vendors from our marketplace will also be in attendance.

Unsure of how to participate and what's expected? Read out SACNAS Pow Wow
Etiquette for Spectators resource sheet here!

Pachanga

It’s back! After a few years of being on hiatus, SACNAS is bringing the Pachanga back to the conference and we are doing it big!  This year’s Pachanga will be our closing dance birthday party and will take place on Saturday and serve as our closing event. It will provide an evening of fun, music, culture, and a celebration for the whole SACNAS community!
