Participants will work in buyer and seller teams—using either a government-to-industry or a business-to-business scenario—to follow the entire pricing process from analyzing a request for proposal for a portfolio of commercial services, applying FAR Part 12, analyzing pricing risk, conducting market research, price analysis and negotiating terms and conditions that affect the pricing of commercial products and services.
All-Day Training #2: Source Selection Simulation
Speaker: Tom Elesser, Professor of Contracts, DAU
Have you ever wondered what happens behind closed doors in a government source selection facility? Join this full-day source selection simulation for a hands-on opportunity to not only see how exchanges between government and industry take place, but to craft exchanges for a deeper understanding of the process and how it affects business objectives on either side of the table. Participants will complete an entire source selection including the initial evaluation, evaluation notices, competitive range determination, and final evaluation briefing and selection. Buyers will leave with strategies for engaging with industry and conducting a thorough and fair review and sellers will leave with new insights to set expectations and communicate with buyers throughout this process.
Prepare to jump into the world of a complex weapons systems acquisition, with lessons that transfer across the DoD/civilian and industry/government spectrums.
Specifically, participants will practice:
• Conducting initial evaluations
• Creating evaluation worksheets
• Updating source selection leadership officials
• Drafting and rewriting evaluation notices
• Drafting initial evaluation briefs
• Briefing initial findings
• Preparing and conducting discussions
• Evaluating evaluation notice responses
• Evaluating final proposal responses
