Procurement Innovation Lab (PIL) Government & Industry Boot Camp
Wednesday, July 28, 2021
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM MDT

Fee: $0.00
Education Credits: 4.0 CPE/CLP

The DHS Procurement Innovation Lab (PIL) is offering a virtual Boot Camp for government and industry on July 28, 2021 as part of NCMA World Congress 2021! Join the PIL team and your colleagues from government and industry for this unique opportunity to learn about the value that innovation can bring to the efficiency of the procurement process and effective mission outcomes.

During this four-hour virtual workshop delivered by PIL coaches, you will hear examples of innovative techniques that were used in recent procurements by the Department of Homeland Security and across other federal agencies to improve mission outcomes—including advisory down-selects, discovery sessions, technical demonstrations, and more. All the techniques that will be shared are flexibilities within the Federal Acquisition Regulations and applicable by any federal agency. Participants can participate with a small team in an innovation challenge during this workshop in order to immediately apply their learning! This workshop is suited for any federal or industry acquisition professional that supports the pre-award phase of the procurement process.

In an acquisition environment that increasingly relies on contract managers to drive innovative solutions, collaborative problem solving has become a non-negotiable skill. There is clear evidence that collaboration leads to better results than can be achieved by individual contributors. Driving meaningful collaboration can be challenging for contract managers who manage a wide variety of stakeholders, sometimes with competing priorities. This full-day seminar will explore specific strategies for solving complex acquisition problems through collaboration and provide hands-on practice building high-trust relationships, fostering a collaborative environment, using emotional intelligence and problem-solving models to lead a team solution, leveraging collaboration tools and technology, and avoiding common collaboration pitfalls.
