ASBO International is committed to providing a safe experience for attendees at the 2022 Annual Conference & Expo in Portland, Oregon. We continue to monitor the recommendations of federal and local officials regarding safety guidelines and best practices for addressing risks presented by COVID-19.

This guidance is based on current conditions and recommendations regarding COVID-19 and may change prior to the conference as conditions and governmental regulation and guidance may change prior to the event. All attendees are encouraged to visit this page regularly for the latest information and updates. Attendees are also encouraged to check the local COVID status for Portland, Oregon.

Participants are advised that health and safety requirements for conference attendance are subject to change up to and during the conference. You will be notified of any changes via standard conference communication procedures as well as on-site posting of the new requirements. Participants who refuse to follow health and safety protocols will be denied admission or removed from the event.


As of March 17, 2022, we have updated our policies as described below. ASBO International reserves the right to modify these policies and procedures at any time given the rapidly changing nature of the current global pandemic.

Effective March 17, 2022, all conference participants (including registrants, guests, presenters, and exhibitors) will be required to meet one of the following conditions to attend the event: (1) the attendee must be fully vaccinated; or (2) the attendee must provide a negative PCR test taken no earlier than 72 hours prior to seeking admission to the event.

ASBO International will closely follow additional guidance from the CDC and will provide updates as necessary when possible.

People are considered fully vaccinated:

  • 2 weeks (14 days) after an accepted single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson)
  • 2 weeks (14 days) after a second dose of an accepted 2-dose series (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca)
  • 2 weeks (14 days) after receiving 2 doses of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines administered at least 17 days apart*

Acceptable vaccines are those approved by the FDA (Johnson & Johnson/Janssen, Pfizer-BioNtech/Comirnaty, and Moderna), as well as vaccinations approved by WHO for emergency use (including AstraZeneca, Covishield BIBP/Sinopharm, and Sinovac), and accepted for entry into the United States by persons living abroad.

Those individuals who are not vaccinated, or who do not qualify as fully vaccinated as defined above, will be required to provide documentation of a negative PCR test no more than 72 hours prior to arrival in Portland, Oregon. Note: At this time, testing is a permissible option; however, where a city, state, or local vaccination requirement is in effect, that order or ordinance would supersede ASBO’s current policy with respect to the admission of unvaccinated individuals.


Masks are not currently mandated in indoor settings, including the Oregon Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Portland, DoubleTree by Hilton Portland, and Courtyard Portland Downtown. Wearing a mask at ASBO International’s Annual Conference & Expo is a personal choice and we ask that everyone makes their choice responsibly. Regardless of hotel requirements, we strongly encourage participants to wear masks (KN95, N95, or surgical (procedure) masks) throughout the event. All attendees should be mindful and respectful of other attendees' health choices.

As masking guidance is subject to change, all attendees are reminded to check current event requirements. Adherence to all health and safety requirements is a condition of attendance at the event, and anyone who refuses to comply with such requirements will not be permitted to attend the event.


ASBO International is contracted with CLEAR Health Pass to conduct vaccine verification for conference participants. The CLEAR approval process can take at least 24 hours to update. Here are the steps to take:

  1. Download the free CLEAR app: Apple iOS or Android.
  2. Scroll down to the “Digital Vaccine Card” section and select the “Add My Vaccination” button. New CLEAR members will be guided through enrollment steps and existing CLEAR members can use the email associated with their CLEAR membership.
  • Enter the email address (preferably the same as was used to register for the conference).
  • Enter your mobile number.
  • Enter the verification code sent to your phone via text.
  • Complete the 2-Step Enrollment: Scan your ID (US & Canada Photo ID Card or Passport) and take a photograph of your face.
  • Agree to the CLEAR member terms.
  • Create a Password.
  • Scan your COVID-19 vaccination card and enter your vaccination info.


  • Upload your negative PCR Test no earlier than 72 hours prior to your arrival at the conference.
  1. A Completed check mark next to your Digital Vaccine Card means your information is uploaded and approved!
  2. Click on the "Create your Health Pass" section within the App. Click on "Have a code?" Enter code EFATTENDEE111

We ask that attendees refrain from physical contact with other attendees — including hugs and handshakes — and that they respect social distancing requirements that may be in effect at the event venue.


We ask all attendees to do their part by taking personal responsibility and remaining vigilant about their own health, including:

  • Properly wearing masks/face coverings in indoor places throughout the city (e.g., restaurants, bars, and other indoor attractions).
  • Maintaining physical distancing in indoor spaces.
  • Using hand-sanitizing stations.
  • Washing hands frequently.
  • Self-monitoring for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath). Take a rapid COVID test and self-isolate or seek medical attention in the event you exhibit any symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Through the registration process, all registrants, guests, presenters, and exhibitors will be required to complete an event acknowledgment via eShow, indicating that they have read and accepted the safety protocols and other terms outlined and will comply. Instructions on how to sign the Waiver will be provided in your registration confirmation.


The Oregon Convention Center has obtained the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR Accreditation. The GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation Program is performance-based and designed to help facilities establish a comprehensive system of cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention for staff and venues.
