Tips for Submitting a Stellar Session Proposal for ARMA Canada Information Conference 2025

  1. Understand the Audience:  Before you start drafting your proposal, take the time to understand who will be attending ARMA Canada Information Conference 2025. Attendees represent Canadian decision makers and influencers across multiple functions in an organization. Whether operating in IT, Legal, Compliance, Information Governance, Privacy, Data Security or Records Management, we bring together senior leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to formulate strategies for Information Governance within their organizations.

  2. Align with the Conference Mission:  ARMA Canada Information Conference is all about equipping Information Governance Practitioners to impact their organization's business objectives and mature their IG programs. Ensure your session aligns with this mission and contributes to the event's goal of fostering thought leadership in Information Governance.

  3. Craft a Clear and Compelling Title:  Your session title should be both informative and attention-grabbing. It should clearly convey the topic and entice attendees to read more. Avoid jargon and keep it concise. For example, "Transforming Data Security Strategies for Legal Compliance" or "Enhancing Privacy Protocols with Advanced IG Techniques."

  4. Define Clear Learning Objectives:  Specify what attendees will learn from your session. Clearly articulate up to three learning objectives that are specific, measurable, and relevant. For instance, "Participants will learn how to implement new data security protocols to comply with upcoming regulations."

  5. Provide a Detailed Session Description:  Your session description should give a brief overview of the topic, why it's important, and what attendees can expect to take away. Use this space to showcase the uniqueness of your session and how it will benefit the target audience. Remember, this is your chance to sell your session to the selection committee.

  6. Showcase Your Expertise:  Highlight your qualifications and experience related to the session topic. If you have any relevant publications, case studies, or previous speaking engagements, mention them. This will build credibility and demonstrate that you are an expert in your field.

  7. Address Current Trends and Issues:  Focus on current trends, challenges, and innovations within the Information Governance field. Attendees are looking for actionable insights and up-to-date information that they can apply in their own organizations.

  8. Provide Real-World Examples:  Use real-world examples and case studies to illustrate your points. This approach helps to make your session more relatable and practical. Attendees appreciate hearing about actual experiences and lessons learned from peers in the industry.

  9. End with a Strong Call to Action:  Conclude your proposal with a clear call to action. Encourage attendees to apply the knowledge gained from your session to their own work environments. Reinforce how your session will help them achieve their goals and contribute to their professional growth.

By following these tips, you'll be well on your way to submitting a compelling and impactful session proposal. Remember, the goal is to provide valuable content that resonates with the audience and contributes to the advancement of the Information Governance community.
