Accessibility Features

Accessibility at the Menino Convention & Exhibition Center

The Menino Convention & Exhibition Center is entirely accessible and designed according to ADA requirements and beyond. A limited number of wheelchairs are available free-of-charge through the First Aid Station. Golf carts are also available at most events for rides to locations inside the building. For personal assistance, please contact the Public Safety department at 617-954-2222.

Accessible Registration

A wheelchair-accessible registration desk will be available at  APTA registration areas. You can also ask any staffer for help if needed.

Accessible Seating

Priority spaces for those in wheelchairs, with limited mobility, with low vision, and/or who are hard of hearing will be available in session rooms.

Closed Captioning

Closed captioning is available at all general sessions, and may be available upon request in education sessions and committee meetings. Should you require closed captioning in an education session or committee meeting, please let the APTA staff in the room know or email meeting@apta.com in advance.

Meal Functions and Buffets

Buffets will be wheelchair-accessible, and APTA and venue staff will be available to those who may require additional assistance at all meal functions. During our meal functions, we offer gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. If you have a specific allergy inquiry, please email meeting@apta.com.

Mobile App

The APTA Meetings mobile app is designed with accessibility in mind. All attendees will have full access to the schedule, program details, venue maps, Products & Services Showcase information, show notifications and more. Session handouts and slides will be added as available.

Mother's Room

There is one Mamava Pod in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center to use as a lactation room. The Mamava Pod is located on level one on the east side of the building near Meeting Room 159.

Navigating Between Sessions

You should be prepared for a significant amount of walking or rolling throughout the day between sessions, so please allow yourself plenty of time to get to each session. Heavy crowds and congested areas could also slow down travel.

Quiet Room

APTA offers a quiet room at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center that attendees are welcome to use if they need a break from the excitement. Please see the APTA information/registration desk to reserve time.

Restrooms

All restrooms have an accessible stall if needed. If you need assistance finding a restroom, please ask any staffer where the closest one is.

Service Animal Relief Areas

Omni Hotel - Grass area at the end of World Trade Center Avenue (across from the Seaport Hotel).
Menino Convention & Exhibition Center - Anywhere outdoors that is acceptable and public that the handler can access.

Who Can I Ask for Help?

If you need help with anything during the conference, you can ask any APTA staff member for assistance. There will also be wayfinders throughout the convention center, as well as registration staff who are there to assist.

Have a need you don't see listed here? Please email us at meeting@apta.com and we will be happy to assist as best as possible.
