Social Event at the Historic Union Station Hosted by KCATA
(Joint Event)
Following its world class restoration, Union Station is once again a grand focal point of transportation in Kansas City. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority played a vital role in restoring Union Station and bringing transportation back to this architectural masterpiece. When it opened Oct. 30, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared Union Station the “Great Gateway to the west.” Union Station is a center for connections between transit services and AMTRAK. While waiting to make their connections, passengers can peruse the station, possibly following in the footsteps of the millions of GIs who passed through the station during both World Wars or synchronizing their watches with the enormous clock in the arch. Meet in the lobby at 5:30 PM to take the streetcar to Union Station. The streetcar stop is 16th and Main. The Streetcar line will take attendees to Union Station which is the last stop. The Streetcar line is accessible two blocks from the Loews Hotel on 13th Street between Wyandotte and Central.(7-minute walk) Location: Union Station Kansas City |

Social Event at The Negro League and Jazz Museum Hosted by KCATA
(Joint Event)
The Museums at 18th & Vine celebrate a time when baseball, jazz, and good times reigned as part of Kansas City's cultural life. The American Jazz Museum and the Negro League Baseball Museum give Kansas Citians and visitors the opportunity to get a first-hand look at some of the greatest legends of jazz and baseball such as Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Lester Young, George and Julia Lee, Satchel Paige, James "Cool Papa" Bell, and Josh Gibson. This "who's who" of early jazz and baseball legends is highlighted in brilliant sight and sound with a dynamic look at Kansas City history. Enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment. KCATA will provide shuttle transportation to the event site and the hotel in 15-minute intervals until 7:00 PM. Shuttles will start departing from the hotel at 5:30 PM with the last departure at 7:00 PM. On the return trip, the last bus will depart the museum at 10:30 PM.
