Environmental Cleaning & Disinfection in Outpatient Settings — Special Considerations Presented by

The last 20 years has seen a dramatic increase in the proportion of health care being provided in outpatient settings such as ambulatory surgical centers, physician health centers, and even pharmacies. These facilities are handling an increasing number of complicated procedures, increasing the risk of transmission of health care associated infections (HAI). While acute care settings are often the primary focus of infection prevention activities, outpatient settings must also establish robust infection prevention programs to reduce pathogen transmission and keep patients and staff safe. In this lunch and learn attendees will learn about:
  • The types of health care being provided in outpatient settings
  • The unique challenges associated with infection prevention, including common and emerging infection threats
  • The key features of a robust environmental cleaning and disinfection program tailored to these settings
  • How to implement cleaning and disinfection best practices as part of a comprehensive infection prevention program
