You're Not an Acronym: A Practical Approach to Leadership

8:15 - 9:15 AM
If you've been a leader or are being groomed to become one, then you've probably taken your fair share of personality tests. Matt Havens has spent over a decade in various leadership positions at a Fortune 25 company. He's taken dozens of personality assessments, and he's recognized a fundamental flaw in the way that all of them attempt to help people become better leaders. By addressing and then correcting this oversight, this presentation will help you expand your understanding of leadership exponentially, while laughing all the while. This is one of the most insightful leadership keynotes you'll ever sit through, and it's also one of the funniest. After all, boring isn't a business requirement. So get ready to enjoy the process of becoming a more effective leader more than you ever thought possible!

Environmental Services: The Value Proposition
Panel Discussion

9:30 - 10:45 AM
Environmental services leaders have often struggled to shake off the perception that their departments are simply support functions with minimal strategic value. Because of this, EVS leaders must do more to place their operations within the overall strategic structure of their facilities. Further, the C-Suite frequently measures EVS performance in terms of cost savings. As a result, many leaders find it difficult to gain traction with the C-Suite. This perpetuates the perceived gap between environmental services, core business strategy, and, ultimately, the bottom line.

How can environmental services leaders affirm their value? Making a closer connection with executive leadership to demonstrate the value that EVS delivers is clearly a critical first step. To change the perception that environmental services is simply a cost center to be managed and reduced, leaders will need to provide data and practical examples demonstrating ROI and value. Value can be difficult to quantify and measure. However, EVS leaders that develop metrics on the core components of their bushiness will be able to show value and raise their profile and the importance of their operations.
