Young Clinician Workshop: Socket Preservation Using Suturing Techniques
This workshop is ideal for students and first year graduates looking to learn or improve their technical skills in order to provide high quality care for their patients.
Healthy soft tissue and adequate bone are the foundation for a successful implant placement. Socket preservation after tooth extraction is essential to prevent bone loss. Proper sutures allow retention of biomaterials in the socket and also optimize soft tissue healing. Several biomaterials and sutures materials are currently on the market, however mastering technical skills is fundamental to offer predictable outcomes to patients.
This hands-on workshop will provide a review of biomaterials used for socket preservation and suturing techniques, highlighting their advantages and inconveniences, and their clinical indications.
Participants will have the opportunity to apply these techniques in a practical setting, gaining hands-on experience on silicone models, and they will benefit from the guidance of the members of the Young Clinicians Committee to learn how to overcome their difficulties.
Pre-registration required. Speaker(s): Ralph Goosby Robert Lemke, DDS, MDLocation: Room 150A, Walter E. Washington Convention Center |

Hands-on Workshop #2: Managing Loose Implant Restorations and Fractured Abutment Screws
SOLD OUT
Supported by an in-kind grant from Nobel Biocare This workshop will focus on principles and guidelines for achieving successful screw joints with implant restorations. It will also focus on a classification system for the fractured screw fragments retained in the implant fixture, and present a decision tree to systematically select the appropriate clinical technique for retrieving the fractured screw fragment. In the hands-on component of this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to retrieve a stripped abutment screw from a typodont, as well as perform several exercises of broken screw removal utilizing a variety of proven retrieval techniques. Hands-on Workshop #4: Zygomatic and Pterygoid Implant Workshop: A Hands-on Roadmap to Remote Anchorage
SOLD OUT
Supported by an in-kind grant from Noris Medical The session combines clinical insight with hands-on practice, bridging the gap between theory and application. Participants will leave with an improved ability to plan and perform remote anchorage implant procedures safely and effectively, while also understanding prosthetic considerations that drive long-term success.
Anatomical models will be provided for hands-on practice.
Upon completion of this presentation, participants should be able to: 1) demonstrate proper surgical incision design and implant positioning for zygomatic and pterygoid implants using anatomical models; 2) evaluate anatomical challenges and apply strategies to reduce complications during remote anchorage procedures; and 3) integrate prosthetic considerations into surgical planning to enhance predictability and functional outcomes.
