Implant-related complications are common and difficult to manage. Many patient-, site-, and fixture-related factors convey risk of future peri-implant diseases and must be considered as a part of developing patient-centered implant maintenance plans. Such ongoing peri-implant maintenance protocols are critical for long-term implant success and survival. For these reasons, implant maintenance and patient-delivered home care that includes implant evaluation and delivery of supportive therapy in a individualized, risk-based schedule should be performed. This presentation will focus on common clinical scenarios and the mechanisms to employ primary prevention of peri-implant diseases through proactive, evidence-based implant maintenance.

Following this presentation, participants should be able to utilize today's technology to efficiently communicate with laboratory partners.  Participants will see how this advanced digital communication between clinician and technician works in conjunction with advanced digital workflows to achieve more accurate results than have been achieved previously.  Single unit implant cases to full arch rehabilitations can benefit from these advancements.  See how this communication between the implant team and restorative team aids in success and is realized by not only the practice but the final restorative result for the patient.  Secure methods of patient sensitive data transfers will be discussed.

 

Treating the biologic complications of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis has remained a conundrum for clinicians. As the use of lasers in dentistry has continued to expand in both acceptance and application, employing them for managing these two conditions has been one approach to gaining greater predictability and success.  This lecture will update the audience on scientific evidence for laser use for both peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. Clinical cases will also be provided showcasing why different lasers are being employed by practitioners as an integral part for managing implant biologic complications.

Biofilm has been implicated as the number one factor in peri-implant diseases. The purpose of supportive implant care and non-surgical treatment is to help manage and reduce biofilm and other factors to prevent and maintain peri-implant health. But is there a one-size-fits-all magic bullet? In this session, participants will examine the various approaches to effective implant surface debridement, and factors that can impact the efficacy.
