Site Visit #1: West Side United: Decreasing the Life Expectancy Gap on Chicago’s West Side
This site visit will allow participants to complete a learning map exercise and community tour that will highlight how six health institutions, community organizations, and community residents are working together to create and provide innovative opportunities that provide access to health and health care, economic vitality, education, and neighborhood revitalization for 10 West Side communities.
Site Visit #2: Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Supporting Survivors and their Families
This site visit will allow participants to visit and hear from Kim Miiller, PsyD, the director of the Trauma Recovery Center, and James Doherty, MD, the Advocate Christ trauma services director about the innovative program, as well as the larger scope of trauma services and violence prevention initiatives that the hospital undertakes each year.
Please dress comfortably if attending site visits, as you will be outside and walking. Jeans, tennis shoes, and jackets are recommended.
